These are deliberately posed shots taken to demonstrate what not to do. If you think no-one would do these things, just look on LinkedIn, Facebook and other social media. Do they suggest professional people to you?
So what’s wrong with them?
From left to right, top row:
Only wear a hat if you are a milliner or it is part of your brand, but try not to cover half of your face.
Looks disinterested, angry or downright aggressive. Please do come and do business with me.
Mr Cool, wearing sunglasses indoors and NOT for medical reasons; you end up looking a little Miami Vice.
Left to right, bottom row:
How romantic, you’re in a happy relationship, but if it’s not for your business, do we care? Also if your name is Sam or Alex, and we haven’t yet met, how do we know which one you are?
Party animal. Obviously taken at a social event so very cluttered in the background.
Too much make-up, which is fine if you are on stage, or a clown, but although you need make-up for photos, don’t over-do it.
I haven’t even included all the images that are out of focus; too dark or over-exposed; pictures of children; favourite pets or cartoon headshots – many of those fun, but will people recognise you when you are networking?
